To create a safe, pedestrian-only space during Comic-Con 2024, the San Diego Convention Center, City of San Diego, and Port of San Diego announce temporary Harbor Drive closures from July 24 to 28, 2024. The public will continue to be able to access the waterfront during the event, as detailed in the map below.
Harbor Drive will close to vehicular traffic (including bikes, scooters, and skateboards) between First Avenue and Park Boulevard during Comic-Con, with the exception of emergency vehicles. Badged attendees with ADA mobility devices are also permitted.
Only badged members (attendees of Comic-Con 2024) may access the front drive, stairs and surrounding sidewalks of the San Diego Convention Center.
Any exhibitor or attendee with a parking pass for the Ace Parking garage directly underneath the San Diego Convention Center will be allowed to drive through. All other drivers will be diverted away from the Convention Center.

Traffic Advisory: Construction Along Harbor Drive South of the Convention Center
An underground sewer project is in progress south of the Convention Center. An active construction site will remain in place during Comic-Con. Traffic will continue to flow in both directions, but drivers may experience delays on Harbor Drive between Park Boulevard and Beardsley Street. See the City’s project web page for a map and details.
Public Access to the Waterfront
2024 Map
Throughout Comic-Con 2024, the public will be able to continue to access the waterfront, public fishing pier, water ferry, eateries, adjacent businesses, and limited public parking at Embarcadero Marina Park South (first-come, first-served) via Convention Way.
See the following Port of San Diego map for locations of restrooms, drinking fountains, and bike racks that will be available to the public during the event:
Public pedestrian access to the waterfront and public amenities will be available via:
- Marina Walk between the Grand Hyatt and Marriott Marquis hotels
- Canyon Path between the Marriott and the San Diego Convention Center
- The Pedestrian Bridge along Park Boulevard
- The sidewalk along the south side of Convention Way next to the Hilton Bayfront hotel
Activities for Residents and Visitors Without Comic-Con Badges
During Comic-Con, members of the public without Comic-Con badges can join in the fun downtown and along the San Diego Bay by exploring activities that are available without badges. Managed independently of Comic-Con and the San Diego Convention Center, the pop-up activities are different each year and take place in many venues across the city. It’s also fun to simply walk around and see people in costume!
