Harbor Drive Closure Planned For Comic-Con 2023

To create a safe, pedestrian-only space during Comic-Con 2023, the San Diego Convention Center, City of San Diego, and Port of San Diego announce temporary Harbor Drive closures from July 19 to 23, 2023. The public will continue to be able to access the waterfront during the event, as detailed in the map below.

Harbor Drive will close to vehicular traffic (including bikes, scooters, and skateboards) between First Avenue and Park Boulevard during Comic-Con, with the exception of emergency vehicles. Badged attendees with ADA mobility devices are also permitted.

Only badged members (attendees of Comic-Con 2023) may access the front drive, stairs and surrounding sidewalks of the San Diego Convention Center.

Any exhibitor or attendee with a parking pass for the Ace Parking garage directly underneath the San Diego Convention Center will be allowed to drive through. All other drivers will be diverted away from the Convention Center.

Harbor Drive Closure Dates and Times

Harbor Drive will close to traffic (including bikes, scooters, and skateboards) on the following days and times:

  • WEDNESDAY, JULY 19: 2:00-10:00 P.M.
  • THURSDAY, JULY 20: 7:00 A.M.-10:00 P.M.
  • FRIDAY, JULY 21: 7:00 A.M.-10:00 P.M.
  • SATURDAY, JULY 22: 7:00 A.M.-10:00 P.M.
  • SUNDAY, JULY 23: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M.

Harbor Drive will reopen to traffic after the hours listed above, or earlier if deemed appropriate by public safety officials.

Public Access to the Waterfront

2023 Map

Due to congestion in the area, bicycles, scooters, Segways, hoverboards, and similar modes of transportation are not allowed in any of the inside or outside areas of the San Diego Convention Center. They are not permitted on the front drive and must be parked outside of the immediate vicinity of the Convention Center. The City of San Diego has designated areas available along the surrounding streets. See the Shared Mobility Device Zone Map that applies to Comic-Con event days.

Throughout Comic-Con 2023, the public will be able to continue to access the waterfront, public fishing pier, water ferry, eateries, adjacent businesses, and limited public parking at Embarcadero Marina Park South (first-come, first-served) via Convention Way.

See the following Port of San Diego map for locations of restrooms, drinking fountains, and bike racks that will be available to the public during the event:

Public pedestrian access to the waterfront and public amenities will be available via:

  • Marina Walk between the Grand Hyatt and Marriott Marquis hotels
  • Canyon Path between the Marriott and the San Diego Convention Center
  • The Pedestrian Bridge along Park Boulevard
  • The sidewalk along the south side of Convention Way next to the Hilton Bayfront hotel
