Executive Director, Communications & Outreach

Barbara is the chief storyteller for the San Diego Convention Center Corporation. She develops communications content and strategy and manages a team of two designers, a public affairs manager and a communications assistant. She oversees the Corporation’s website, social media channels, video production and publications. She develops content strategies based on the convention center’s business objectives and customer/user needs and oversees the branding of the center. She recently helped lead a complete redesign of the corporation’s website,, which won several awards including Best of Show from the San Diego Press Club. Under her direction, the Corporation’s Communications Team has won more than a dozen awards in two years.

Prior to SDCCC, Barbara worked at the Port of San Diego, producing award-winning videos focusing on the Port’s Maritime Industry, development and planning projects, environmental initiatives and community events. She was also part of a team that helped launch the Port’s social media channels and managed the Port’s public website.

Barbara spent many years working in television newsrooms, producing newscasts across the Southwestern United States, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Phoenix. She was nominated twice for an Emmy Award.

Barbara attended Cal State University Los Angeles with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.
