Khaleghi and Jacobson Appointed to San Diego Convention Center Corporation Board of Directors

Stephen Cushman Reappointed to a Second Term
(San Diego, CA – October 21, 2015) – The San Diego City Council approved Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s appointment of Mr. Mohsen Khaleghi and reappointment of Mr. Stephen Cushman to the San Diego Convention Center Corporation (SDCCC) Board of Directors on Tuesday, October 20. Additionally, City Council voted to appoint Xema Jacobson on to the SDCCC Board of Directors. Khaleghi and Jacobson will join the seven-member board that sets policy for the Corporation.
 
Mohsen Khaleghi is Vice President of Operations for Grand Pacific Resorts, a timeshare company in Carlsbad. He was formerly the CEO of Exponential Hospitality Group, Inc., a hospitality consulting group, and has over 30 years of experience in hospitality and management in San Diego. Khaleghi received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida International University, and branched into hospitality through his engineering expertise. He is actively engaged in service to San Diego. He is the past chair and president of the San Diego County Hotel & Motel Association. He was one of the charter board members of the San Diego Marketing District and he served as an executive committee member/treasurer and board member of the San Diego Tourism Authority. In 2005, Mohsen was recognized as the San Diego Hotel Person of the Year and in 2010, he was nominated as the General Manager of the Year for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
 
Xema Jacobson, a native San Diegan and graduate of San Diego State University, brings over 30 years of government policy, legislative and labor relations experience to the San Diego Convention Center Board of Directors. She is the President of Trilogy PR Group, a firm that consults with businesses and organizations within San Diego County. Prior to joining Trilogy Group, Xema managed a successful city council campaign and served as Chief of Staff for a member of the San Diego City Council. She has worked over 20 years with the building trades unions in San Diego County and served as the Business Manager of the San Diego County Building Trades Council. In 2003, Xema became a member of the Executive Committee of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. She was appointed by then-Governor Gray Davis to serve a four-year term. Her extensive labor background includes negotiations, contract administration and compliance with government contracting and bond issues. She was the Building Trades Administrator for the construction of Petco Park and the San Onofre Nuclear Station. Xema is the Past Chair of the South County Economic Development Council and has also served on the Board of the United Way of San Diego and its Finance Committee, the San Diego Food Bank Board, the Holiday Bowl Committee and was a founding member of the Stan Foster Construction Tech Academy at Kearny High School Advisory Committee.
 
The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the City of San Diego to exclusively manage, market and operate the 2.6 million sq. ft. waterfront facility. The Center is currently celebrating 25 years of service as the regions premier gathering place.
