What Does it Take to Feed Comic-Con?

The San Diego Convention Center is proud to be host to the most anticipated pop culture event in the world this weekend - Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The four-day convention - now in its 48th year - empowers lovers of comic-books, popular art, movies, gaming, anime and so much more, to come together and celebrate it all and each other.

With attendance reaching 130,000, you may be wondering: what does it take to feed them?

Our Executive Chef Daryl O'Donnell is our superhero in the kitchen. He and his team sweep in and take over. He sat down this week at the newly opened Pendry Hotel for a podcast interview with San Diego Magazine to talk with hosts Erin Chambers Smith, Troy Johnson, and producer Archana Ram is Pendry's Executive Sous Chef Matthew Dickey about feeding Comic-Con and other conventions. Chef Daryl's interview starts at 15:00 in.

Here's a fun infographic showcasing the total food consumed at last year's Comic-Con.

For a real "look" at the kitchen in action on days when Comic-Con isn't in house, take a look at the video below. We captured a timelapse during last year's Adobe Max convention by hanging a Go-Pro in the kitchen and in the exhibit hall as the meal was served.
