Attendee Tip: Get Your Guide to San Diego

Attending a meeting at the San Diego Convention Center in the coming months? Consider yourself lucky!

First, you're in the fifth top destination city in the United States when it comes to meetings and conventions. Everything you need is within walking distance or a short transit trip away, including the airport (just about a 10-minute ride). Our destination is home to famous attractions like the world famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and the USS Midway Museum. You'll also find award-winning craft beers and food. And when it comes to our business sector, San Diego is a gateway to international trade and home to biotech, startups and more. We consider the experience: Life. Changing.

Whether it's your first visit, an annual trip or it's been a while since you've stayed with us, we've got you covered!

The San Diego Convention Center’s new attendee guide for 2017-2018 is here. It is the only publication distributed exclusively to convention attendees, meeting planners and exhibitors, free of charge by our team at the convention center. It's also won several design awards over the years. It's designed to be easy to carry with information about our venue amenities as well as the must-see and eat items nearby.

What's Inside?

New in this year's guide is a section dedicated to San Diego's famous food pairing: tacos and beer! You'll find a map of all the local neighborhoods where you can sample award-winning craft beers and fish tacos (or any type of taco you can think of) within walking distance of our facility. And to add a personal touch, our Executive Chef Daryl O'Donnell even shared his own personal recipe for fish tacos, so you can try your hand at our award-winning chef's dish in the comfort of your own home.

We also offer a list of the must-see icons of the San Diego region as well as a guide to all our unique neighborhoods.

And if you're looking for dining, we have more than 100 restaurants inside foods from around the world, from waterfront venues like Duke's La Jolla to your best bets for breakfast.

Also inside the guide you'll find:

  • Details on the new attractions opening this summer at the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld San Diego
  • Tips on getting around San Diego with or without a car
  • Ways to save using your convention badge
  • Information on arts and culture venues as well as Balboa Park
  • Details on a one-of-a-kind "Cat Cafe" and a brand new indoor skydiving adventure called Airborne

The guide is easy to carry in your hands and can be easily stored until you're ready to use it for a walk around town. You'll find them throughout the lobbies of the convention center and at our partner hotels and attractions. The maps make it easy to find just what you're looking for. So, how do you get one?

  • Our guide is distributed inside the convention center, including at our concierge desks and near the Starbucks locations.
  • It is also distributed at 50 locations around San Diego, including hotels and attractions such as the USS Midway Museum.
  • The guide can also be shipped to you. Just send us an email in advance of your event.

You can also view it digitally right now. We hope you find it useful when planning your visit to San Diego and our convention center!
