VIDEO: Vice Chair Gil Cabrera Celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week

Tourism is the third largest industry in San Diego. It is responsible for contributing $17.2 billion to our regional economy. It happens to be National Travel and Tourism Week, so it's only fitting for us to recognize the importance of this industry.

As a convention center, we play a crucial role in the region. That is because people come to our city from all over the world to attend events: from national trade shows and conventions to annual meetings and symposiums. In fiscal year 2016 alone, we generated over 900,000 visitors for San Diego.

All aspects of the San Diego destination, including our sunshine, beaches, attractions and more, are a huge reason why our customers choose us. And when the attendees arrive, they pour out of our building into San Diego to partake of the destination.

Watch Gil Cabrera, Vice Chair of our Board of Directors, tell you more about how we're creating a "ripple effect" for the local tourism industry and our surrounding business community in San Diego.
