Explore San Diego on Two Wheels

Year-round sunshine is only one of the many reasons San Diego is a top meeting and convention destination. Our waterfront convention center is surrounded by more than 11,000 hotels rooms, 100 restaurants and 90 bars and world famous attractions ­– all within walking distance. Now San Diego is becoming a top “bikeable” city as well.

Named one of the top 10 bike-friendly cities by USA Today, the City of San Diego is going the extra mile by implementing a bicycle sharing program and partnering in the development of a bike loop around the city. It’s an effort to make San Diego a “world-class bike city. This is a whole new way for both locals and visitors to explore the city.

The San Diego Bike Loop, a 7.3- mile route, sends cyclists to some of San Diego’s top attractions. The on-street loop is noticeably marked with special way-finding symbols that take riders through downtown.

Here are some of the attractions to keep an eye out for starting from our facility:

Gaslamp Quarter

  • This is an urban hotspot with shopping, restaurants and bars that you can’t pass up.

  • Follow the loop through Bankers Hill and head to Balboa Park and explore this beautiful urban park and its museums, Spanish architecture, fountains and gardens. Stop for a bite to eat while you're there!

Tiger at the Zoo

San Diego Zoo

  • Within the park, you will find the San Diego Zoo, which you can get to on two tires! Side routes take you to Hillcrest and University Heights; these areas have quaint breakfast spots, independent movie theaters, wine bars and vintage shopping.

Little Italy

  • The route traverses Little Italy, a charming waterfront neighborhood with incredible Italian cuisine, cafes, upscale boutiques and a Saturday farmers market.
