Attendee Tip: Comic-Con Lost and Found 101

The streets of San Diego and the halls of the San Diego Convention Center will soon be filled with superheroes, zombies and Storm Troopers! Celebrating its 46th year in San Diego, Comic-Con International will return for the annual four-day event. With so much to do and see, there are also a lot of items that go missing every year. So what should you do to prepare for the crowd of an estimated 130,000 attendees? We have some helpful tips from our guest services team.

  • Label your electronics devices with a phone number or an email address in case their item is lost and turned into lost and found.
  • Take photos of the items you’re coming with! It’s easier to identify what’s yours if it goes missing.

“I usually have so many items turned in that are never claimed: cameras, iPods, cell phones, video cameras and other different electronic devices,” says Susan Young, Guest Services Division Assistant. “Many phones are locked so I have no way of contacting the owners."

The San Diego Convention Center makes every effort to return items lost at the facility back to the rightful owner during and after events. In general, items recovered following an event are held for a maximum of 30 days.

  • When a member of your party - including children - gets separated, don’t panic! Alert security or convention center personnel to direct you to the secure area where lost children are held for their protection.
  • The number one rule for any attendee at Comic-Con: Don’t lose your badge. It’s your passport to everything and it’s not transferable.

To claim an item that you have lost while at a Center event, please email all of this information at You can also call us at 619-525-5407. Please include a description of the item, event name, the date you lost it and your contact information to include a phone number. And be patient. We will get back to you as soon as we are able.
