Lunch on the Run: Healthy Dining Options

Whether you are looking for a speedy lunch before your next session or a relaxing dinner with new friends, San Diego has plenty of healthy dining options to tantalize your taste buds.

Heart of the Gaslamp

Be good to your heart by just talking a walk across the street from the convention center. You’ll find “chopped salads for healthy hearts” on the menu at Maryjane’s inside the Hard Rock Hotel. Options include grilled chicken and a California Cobb.

Tin Fish is the place to go for fresh, grilled seafood tacos, a Southern California staple! Choose from grilled sea bass, mahi mahi, swordfish, salmon and halibut. All of their items are great for dining in or take-out.

Gluten-Free Menus

Gluten-free friends, San Diego has got a treat for you! Many restaurants within walking distance of the convention center have extensive gluten-free menus!

  • Roy’s: Just a few steps from the convention center, this Hawaiian-fusion restaurant offers an extraordinary view of the waterfront with an equally amazing gluten-free menu, including an irresistible hot chocolate soufflé!
  • Seasons 52: As one of San Diego’s newest fine dining establishments, Seasons 52 offers seasonally-inspired choices using a variety of natural cooking techniques, including wood-fire grilling and brick-oven cooking. In addition to their gluten-free menu, they also offer lactose-free, low sodium, garlic-free, vegetarian and vegan menus!
  • Blue Point Coastal Cuisine: You can’t leave San Diego without sampling our fresh, local seafood. Just a few blocks down 5th Avenue, Blue Point accommodates gluten-free guests with a hearty oyster bar, succulent fish dishes and natural beef options.
  • Indigo Grill: Hop in a taxi for the heart of Little Italy, and head to Indigo Grill. Their gluten-free menu has just as many options as their regular dining menu, including decadent desserts and sorbets.

Natural Food Store

Much more than a natural foods grocer, Jimbo’s substantial deli, salad bar and juice bar menus provide dozens of organic, locally grown choices for the health-conscious consumer. Located on 1st Avenue, between G and F Streets, Jimbo’s is dedicated to strict natural foods standards, including no preservatives, hydrogenated oils, artificial colorings, chemical fillers or GMOs. The store touts a large selection of pre-made and made-to-order items for the time-starved attendee, including raw and vegan snacks!

Tides Restaurant

Busy convention attendees can meet and eat right inside our facility’s onsite restaurant, Tides. Managed by our food and beverage partner, Centerplate, this 138-seat restaurant offers some healthy menu options, just steps from Exhibit Hall A. For heart healthy and gluten-free lunch, consider ordering the Pear Gorgonzola Salad, Baja Chicken Salad, or a healthy fruit cup snack!
