Mr. Sobek presently works as the director of operations for Azul Hospitality Group, a management and development company specializing in full-service hotels and upscale resorts. He has nearly two decades of executive experience with Atlas Hotels, where he was vice president and general manager for the company’s flagship property, the Town and Country Resort and Hotel. Mr. Sobek received the 2004 San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau Partnership of the Year Award; the 1996 Hotelier of the Year award from the SDHMA; and was recognized by Meeting and Convention Magazine with six Gold Key Awards in the last 10 years. The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the City of San Diego and is exclusively responsible for marketing, managing and operating the building. In its 19-year history, the Center has generated nearly $15.2 billion in economic impact, over $309.8 million in tax revenues and continues to serve as San Diego’s premier gathering place.
